I thought of this when I woke up from a dream with Haruhi in it, and it was kinda cute I guess. After an incident that had your father moving around a lot more and your mother going with him, they decided it was best for you to stay with the Narukami family for more stability. Yu had adopted the role of the older sibling as he was in fact your elder by two months. As a result, you naturally went to Inaba with Yu when the time came.
