The Night School has changed in the years since we last heard from it. And whereas the first Night School book was in the perspective of an outsider, Newfond High is from the perspective of Cadet 2-1811-8; Dylan Lawrence. Dylan is given the task of training a new recruit of a species the Night School still has no detailed planning for, an Egyptian Mage. The Mages the N.S. knows are very powerful exceptions, but they have had little to no experience with the majority of the Mages. Not only is Dylan put in a position where she has to figure out on her own the way to best deal with this new species, but this Mage happens to be her worst enemy. The enemy Dylan has always wanted to one-up and put in place: Avery Duncan.

Cheerleaders can be bitchy and mean but they can also act all happy and excited and they can drool and swoon over Finn Wallace – the hands-down hottest guy in school – like there's no tomorrow. Me?
