AU set during the Civil War. When Ulysses Grant and his Union soldiers stumble across a message that was to be delivered to Confederate General Robert E. Lee, the group is thrown into a fight for survival that will test both where Grant's loyalties lie and where his hertiage really belongs. Meanwhile President Davis of the Confederacy begins to plot to not only destroy the Union but to take apart his life to create a new General, questioning Grant's motives of his army, hertiage and beliefs with devastating consequences.

Instead the commander discovers something far worse. Thrown into a future where a civil war has left one part of the country in ruins and the other side as a victor, Grant discovers the terrifying consequences of America's actions and the question of slavery. Grant, determined to keep the country together, heads back into the past after the series of events that will change the future...but at what cost?
