Phil doesn't have a best friend in his life. That is, until Dan turns up at his school. They become close and Phil finds out that Dan has a twin brother, but hates to talk about him. It's not until Phil comes over to Dan's house that he finds out why.

Dan comes home from Christmas shopping to find Phil in the bathroom passed out. He doesn't know how or why this happened, but is terrified for his best friend. Dan tries to help Phil but gets annoyed with himself in the process, writing everything he hates about himself along with his deepest secret: his love for his best friend. Will Phil ever find out? The only good thing in Dan's life is his stepbrother, Chris. Well, and their best friend, PJ, of course. When word of the grand ball gets out Dan is so excited. He wants more than anything to go to the ball. He's had a crush on the prince ever since he first lay eyes on him. Well, seen a picture of him, actually. A peasant like him couldn't look at the prince. I guess this crushes Dan's dreams of talking-or possibly even dancing-with the prince. Or will it? Remember, Dan. Dreams are real.

Dan tried to kill himself. He wakes up in a hospital with Amnesia. He doesn't remember anything. Day after day a memory appears in his head. Will he ever find out why he wanted to die?
