An original action and science-fiction novel by Laura Bowden. (Edited by Emilyy Goff) Meiko is addicted to the internet. More specifically, the most popular VR game out there - the Code. In the Code, your avatar can be challenged to duel with other players, the result of the duel moving one of the players up in the rankings. There is a glitch, in the game, however, one that brings the simulation to life. Players whose avatar gets shot wake up from the simulation with a gunshot wound or something along those lines. None of the game's admin know who or what has spawned the glitch - but Meiko has a hunch. With headset and controller in hand, she investigates all the injured and disappearing players, bringing all their ailments back to the same player - 'blackswordsmen_' - one who has mysteriously never been beaten in a supervised duel. © 2013 Laura Bowden

Donate Body to Science. Check. When seventeen-year-old Kaitlyn checked the box, she never suspected she’d have her life–and her body–stolen from her. She awakens one day in a secret laboratory to discover that her body is now half-robot and is forced to hide her own secret: that she still has human emotions and a human mind. If the scientists who made her find out, they’ll erase what remains of who she was. Kaitlyn finds an unlikely ally in Lucas, a handsome, brilliant scientist who can’t get over the guilt he feels knowing she was once a vibrant, beautiful young woman. He never expected a science project to affect him the way she does. As he tries to help her rediscover her past, he finds himself falling for the brave girl struggling to find her place and acceptance between the human and computer worlds. *For mature teens due to some sexual content.

In a Futurist-Victorian London, Ex-Carnie Victor Hart makes his living as a dinner party entertainer and mountebank, using the skills taught to him by his Romani mother – the Patterns. When tragedy strikes a wealthy friend, Victor Hart puts his skills to use in an alternative manner. This Steampunk London has its fair share of psychos, sickos, and sadists, and it takes a special kind of mind to hunt them. Victor sees human behaviour in a way few others can understand but only as an outsider; certain parts of his humanity are missing and that disturbs him. As he solves each seemingly unrelated case, a dark pattern slowly begins to reveal itself threatening the heart of the British Empire and even what we feel makes us human. A Steampunk-detective-noir, darker than most, the first volume features four thrilling cases; the first novel in a Duology.

"Close your eyes." he croaked, I did as I was told without any disobedience. "Have you any idea how badly I want to kiss you right now?" I shook my head in reply. "Badly, so fucking badly." he whispered as his harsh breath fanned across my cheek. Dark haired and tattooed, Xavier looked like the ultimate bad boy...but weren't bad boys meant to have that boyish charm? The thing is, Xavier was extremely guarded, hot headed and quite frankly, scary. In fact, Xavier was many things but romantic and loving wasn't two of them. He was a building half built, a puzzle with half of the pieces missing... Until he met me. Warning: Bad language (lots of). A possessive delinquent that is guaranteed to make you smile (or cry.)
