Savannah, age 17, was graduating from St. Clair High School. Harry, age 18, was also graduating. Savannah and Harry have known each other ever since they were in kindergarten. They never really spoke to each other until they started high school. Their friendship caused Savannah to gain feelings for Harry but she never had the guts to tell him. Days before prom, Savannah's dream came true. Harry asked Savannah to go to prom with him. She had been waiting four years for this to happen. Without a doubt, Savannah said yes. Prom finally arrived and everything was going smoothly. While heading to the school, Savannah takes a turn for the worse. She gets into a vehicle collision and none of her friends are around to help her. Harry is already in school, waiting for Savannah. He finds out from one of Savannah's friends that she's in the hospital. Quickly rushing to the hospital, Harry has been told that Savannah is suffering from a deep coma.
