Vic has been through a lot in the past few days. He lost his best friend and almost took his own life. That's why he ended up in a psychiatric hospital. Kellin has been in the hospital for 20 days now but that's okay, he doesn't want to go home to his abusive family. Dan is a firm believer that love doesn't exist. Not in adults, and definitely not in high school. He detests silly love stories and petty relationships, posing as 'love', and nothing could possibly change his mind in that.
