"Are you going somewhere, Mel?" Dex's deep voice filled the room finally, his country drawl like honey. I finally looked up: he was standing there with his arms crossed, cleanly shaved at last. Handsome as ever, looking fresh and not at all like he'd spend the weekend in a jail cell.
I pulled Malia up after snapping her onesie closed again. "I'm not going anywhere," I shrugged. Then I pulled a blanket from the drawer beneath her crib, wrapped her in it and snuggled her against my chest.
"So why are there suitcases by the door?" He asked, sounding like he knew but just couldn't believe it: I was putting my foot down.
"Because, Dexter," I gritted. "They're yours. I'm tired. You should go to your sister's. I need space, okay?"
