Tezuka Yumiko has always been overshadowed by her younger brother, by 10 minutes, Tezuka Kunimitsu. She was an average player for most of her elementary school days. When she turned 8 years old, she decided to join the Rikkaidai school system which consisted of elementary school, junior high, and senior high. Yumiko wanted to stay in Rikkai's dorms. During a small tournament, a woman named, Miyagawa Emiri saw this girl's talent and potential. She may have lost the tournament but she showed signs of persistence, not giving up, and mental skill.
