A nation in crisis. Headlines spoke of a disease that rattled the world, a slow burning fire that knocked out most of the population. The economy crumbled, world leaders fell ill, people started to die while quarantined in their homes and it began to go unnoticed. Businesses failed and depression became the norm. While a cure was being promised to heal the world, scientists had discovered 6% of the population was immune. The 6% were hunted, taken for vigorous testing that eventually lead to their body be nothing more than a blood supply. After fifteen years the world seemed doomed, military were spotted less and less, the government went into hiding, and scientists stopped their testing...or so we thought.

~ "The Skin-Changer Prophecy" takes place 60 years after the events of "Daughter of Beorn". ~ "But I'm scared, Mama." Aarav murmured with his lip in a pout. Kyja's expression softened, and she lifted her five-year-old son onto her lap as the other three kids snuggled closer. Fili sat next to them as his wife spoke. "Oh, Rav... I know, sweetheart." She said. "Do you know what, though? It's okay to feel scared." Internally, however, Kyja was concerned. Her kids had caught them talking about the prophecy, and discovered everything. The secret was out, and all four of the young skin-changers were immensely curious. "So... what are we gonna do?" Opal asked, eyes wide. The woman smiled at Opal and kissed her daughter's head. "The only thing you, Fion, Aarav, and Mira need to do is grow big and strong and kind. That's it. You don't have to worry about any monsters yet. That's Mama and Papa's job." Fion's little blond eyebrows furrowed, and he looked up at the older dwarf. "But no one's stronger than Papa. Not even me!" Chuckling, Fili embraced his little boy and met the gazes of his four children. "And... Mama and I are going to be here no matter what happens. We promise." Years passed like minutes as children grew into adults, humans into animals. Mira and her siblings were called to join the Fellowship of the Ring-- to guard the Ring-bearer and all of his companions. The four skin-changers will all encounter what it truly means to love, to live, and to thrive with the lives they've been given... all the while learning that their identities are found in more than just a prophecy. ~ Note: The plotline for the LOTR Trilogy as well as any original characters belong to J.R.R. Tolkien. ~ Kyja, her four children, and any new characters & sub-plots belong to me.

"What the hell?" I took a step closer to the mirror, staring at my reflection in disbelief. The person looking back was still me, but at the same time it wasn't. I had the same thick, dark, curly hair. The same hazel eyes. The same olive skin with a light dusting of freckles (ugh) scattered across the bridge of my nose. But my curls were now streaked with highlights. And not the subtle, golden-brown ones that sometimes appeared during the summer. No, these were an aggressive, dazzling blond that went from the roots of my hair all the way to the tips. It looked like I had spent a full day getting my hair done in some upscale salon. Never mind that I had never set foot in such a place since the day I was born. My eyes appeared somehow wider and more luminous. The colour brighter, my eyelashes darker up against them. And, when I looked closely, my pupils seemed to be slitted almost like a cat. I looked down at my body. My skinny arms-which had always refused to gain any definition no matter how hard I exercised-were lined with flat, wiry muscles. My bony shoulders were now curved and smooth. My scrawny legs were toned like a dancer. I reached down and lifted my shirt, revealing two subtle lines running vertically down my perfectly flat stomach, hinting at the rock-hard abs underneath. My whole body was rippling with strength. Like liquid steel.

No one ever said what would happen when dragons and aliens meet. And no one told me that I would be in the middle of it. Tasha was studying hard to get through her last year of university when she was kidnapped. She certainly didn't expect to wake up with four feet and wings. Mad scientists are bad enough, but things get even more complicated when aliens appear and wipe out the human race. Is there a way for her to hide her true identity in this new world while retaining her humanity? --------------------- Sneak Peek: I jumped over the lip of the tray and beat down hard with my wings. I had expected to only slow my fall; I had not expected to end up gaining so much height. I squawked in surprise and spread my wings wide in alarm before gravity regained its hold on me. With several awkward back-winging motions of my wings, I landed lightly on the floor. Well, at least I know my wings work. I glanced at the man in the corner as he was scribbling quick notes. I turned around to regard the tray again. They say practice makes perfect. With another hop and a single wingbeat, I managed to land in the sand tray with fanned wings slowing my momentum. That was much more graceful. But a wing-assisted hop wasn't true flight. And I still wasn't on the windowsill. ---------------------------- Entire semi-polished draft can be read on Wattpad.
