Dan is lonely seeing as his parents are always too busy for him. Since birth, he’s had a life plan that he is to follow exactly, though he wants to create his own future. He meets a really quiet kid, Phil, who never talks to anyone and is known as “Freaky Phil” by everyone in school. Dan decides to give the boy a chance, though Phil isn’t exactly the easiest person to talk to… Warnings: anxiety, mute, first-time (awkward) smut (later on and only once), mention of suicide of minor character (no actual suicide), and bullying. Phil Lester is sweet and cute; known for his kindness and enthusiasm. Dan Howell is a tough, cold outsider; known as the school's stereotypical 'bad boy'. But if he's so bad, then why on earth did he rescue Phil Lester and give him a smile which would melt anyone's heart?

" my name's blurry face and I care what you think. " Dan Howell has an unknown condition where he cannot see faces - no matter what he wears or does - they are always a blur. The doctors nicknamed it 'blurry face', and there's absolutely nothing they can do about it; Dan will have to live without faces. That is, until he meets Phil Lester - the 'bad boy' of Dan's new school - who's face is strangely visible to Dan; much to Dan's wonder and Phil's distaste.

" Or the story of an overenthusiastic boy called Phil, who has trouble shutting up, and a reluctantly mute boy called Dan, who's life is falling apart, and how they both come to realise that sometimes - actions can speak louder than words.

Phil is a poor boy forced to marry another man. He's not very healthy and he's very anxious to be the husband of a rich man. The constant cloud of suicide and anxiety follows Phil Lester everywhere he goes and he struggles to fit into his new life.
