Many of the animals became cannibals, or worse. They hunted humans. Scientists tried to stop them, but the animals couldn't be killed. The only weapon that could work on the animals was this," My father held up a shiny silver bullet.

Apocalypse has started but not as everybody thought it would. An 'infection' has spread but Harley isn't convinced that it's you're average zombie apocalypse. They're being killed, then revived as a Controlled, forced to take orders from the 'Controller'.
