Weeks after her father's death, twelve-year-old Marcia Ziegel begins her first day of Junior High School. Accompanied by her best friend Emmy Chung, Marcia meets some new friends and runs into childhood enemy Rochelle de Wintersfield, the girl who caused Marcia to be an outcast. Marcia also soon almost forgets to keep the old in her friendships, and finds her and Emmy to be drifting apart with Marcia's apparent popularity. Through the times of their ups and downs, from mothers dating again to revenge against bullies, Marcia experiences events that she will remember for a lifetime.
