In the far future, genetic engineering is used to strip all sapient species of disability. But when humans have a brief fad of natural birth, disabled children start reappearing. Then she meets Chui Shan Fung, captain of the first contact and refugee ship Carpathia. Captain Chui has been watching her, and knows about the talent for understanding alien species that Xandri has cultivated. She wants Xandri as part of her crew--but first, Xandri must pass a test to see if she'll even fit in. Wary but hopeful, Xandri joins the Carpathia at Psittaca, a newly-discovered planet peopled by parrot-like sapients. Learning to understand this new species is the easy part compared to trusting her new crew mates. As Xandri continues her diplomatic efforts with the Psittacans, it becomes apparent that the Carpathia's crew aren't the only ones to have discovered the planet, but these other visitors don't have good intentions. Her best friend, Chelsea, answered it. "Is webby there?" the man said in a raspy voice. "Yes", chels said. She handed the phone to Ms. Web. "It sounds like your husband", chels said. There was a pause. "Well, yes, if he was raised up from the dead." She put the phone up to her ear, "Hello." "Hello webby, it's me, Bob." chapter2... She dropped the phone. An eerie feeling ran over her.The lights flickered, chels was gone! chapter3... Ms. Web looked all over for her, finally she found her on the bed but somthing was wrong. She was as cold as ice! On her shoe there was a note, it said "Do you like my suprise? Meet me at the hotel on 34th street or the ones you care about will die one by one." chapter4... When she got to the hotel she asked for Bob. The hotel clerk said "We have been expecting you. Right this way." He
