Centuries ago, dragons lived. They wrought their havoc and their hellfire and burned every town they saw to the ground. Centuries ago, they were driven from their mountain havens, and murdered in the hundreds to near extinction. For a time, the mountains were safe. But now the dragons are coming back, and when they claim revenge on the towns, a maiden or two leaves with them. Yet though the girls are stolen, they never are to die.

Religion rules Constantine's world...and she has been condemned as the Spawn of the Devil. She is a Champion, a human being blessed with superhuman abilities by the deities of her world. However, her patron happens to be the Lord of War and Strategy - and women were never supposed to be Champions of War. In order to survive in a world that would rip her apart, she disguises as a boy, training to fulfil her supposed destiny. But fate has other things in store for her. An ancient evil is rising - and only Constantine may have the power needed to fight it. Along with a brash warrior and a too-perceptive scholar, Constantine begins to unravel secrets of a prophecy foretelling the end of the world. Now back on Wattpad! ---- In a land covered in eternal night, a young girl's light is all that stands between Mankind and the Forces of Darkness. When the Sun Goddess vanished under mysterious circumstances a thousand years ago, she left the land of Kuro blanketed in eternal night. Over time, the people learn to harness what remains of the Goddess: the precious and finite resource known as the Goddess Essence. Kurokyuu Orbs, miracles of modern technology, harvest the Goddess Essence and provide light and power to all. But there is a problem: the Goddess Essence is running out. And it couldn't have come at a worse time. Whispers abound of a growing evil in the North; stories of shadows that can only be harmed by the light of the sun. From out of the darkness rises the City of the Sun. Light Spires shine through all twenty-four hours, providing artificial sunlight for all. Everyone that is, but the residents of the Utter Darkness. In this forsaken place, Mina, a young orphan, is forced to beg and steal on the streets to sustain herself in the hardscrabble way of life. In the darkest corners, Marauders lurk, hunting little girls, searching for the one known only as "The Maiden". When Mina falls captive to a roving band of Marauders, she is faced with a life-altering decision: reveal the secret she has been hiding her entire life or stay silent and risk losing her already meager existence? When people die as a result of her inaction, Mina realizes her secret is no longer hers to keep. A secret that lies in a most unusual ability: The power to manifest sunlight... How far is too far? Is it when someone tells you you've gone too far? Is it when it becomes all you can think about? Or is it when it fills you up inside, leaving anger and hate and becoming all that you are and all that you have when others leave. You begin to depend on it and it only fuels your need for revenge. How far would you be willing to go to exact revenge on those who murdered your family and brought the destruction of an entire village? Some say they would be willing to do anything to bring justice to them, but what if there was a road block? Something that stopped you from continuing and made you think if it was worth the anger and hate? Something that was there when all others were not and was more powerful and more dangerous than anger? How far is too far? Or should I say, how do you know when you need to stop?
