"Wake up" A whisper. I pricked up my ears then, like some sort of wolf or predator listening in the distance for its prey; I held my breath and searched for the taciturn voice. The ringing was getting even louder, banging my head in an annoying manner. Slowly, I contemplated closing off the sounds of the bells and slipping away into the silent infinity. "Shay!" Then I opened my eyes. ***** Summer is supposed to be fun right? Tell that to Shay Hunter. This summer was supposed to have been the best one yet; instead, the only person that ever truly cared about her vanished like thin air With her father gone and her mother turned to alcohol for support, Shay closes her shell and finds comfort in the deepest parts of her imagination. That's when Avian shows up. He is determined to make her open up to him and Shay cannot decide if she likes the brown haired stranger that makes the butterflies in the pits of her insides run wild. Can she let herself accept this unusual human being that got her sent to the principal's office for the first time, or will she let her pride cost her the little bit of sanity she had left? Though Avian may be cheerful, he's hiding a secret; a secret that makes Shay wonder whether or not mankind is truly all born to die Could she just close up her shell once more and let her subconscious take over? Or can she fight? And maybe even inspire a certain brown haired boy with chocolaty brown eyes... THIS BOOK IS COPYRIGHTED BY THE STATE OF ONTARIO! DO NOT COPY, OR YOU CAN BE SUED. What happens when instead of being born, or rather created like everyone else around you, you were different. You looked different, acted different, and even seen things differently. Well in the small town of Thornton it is pretty much how I live. Everyone around me has the same eye color, hair color, same height and same looking parents. No two people are different in any way. A male would look like any other male around them, and a female would look like any other female around them. There was no race, or religion, or making fun of a person for how they looked, everything was just perfect. Well that is until I was born. My name is Kathie Warlord, and my life began fifteen years ago. Some might expect things to be perfect, but my life was far from perfect because I am an imperfection. Since my birth fifteen years ago I knew I was different. My parents knew I was different, and so did everyone as school. I was considered the weird one because I wasn't perfect, but whoever said being perfect was good? Well in the town of Thornton being perfect is all that anyone has known. Yes there was stories about a time when no one was perfect. Where everyone was different, and where everyone had their own stories of life. Everyone's stories were different, but now in the year of 4056 everyone has the same story. Everyone but me, and this is my story of imperfection. The story I live everyday of my life. Yes there is pain in my story, but there is also happiness and not in that romantic kind of stuff you would expect in most stories. No, my happy ending is far from that, and to find out about my happy ending you will just have to continue reading...
