-COMPLETED: Aug. 25, 2018 -Selective mutism - personal experience This is a short autobiography I wanted to write. In the future I do wish to eventually write this longer and more in depth. One day I will actually (hopefully) publish it. This is just my personal experience with selective mutism and I wanted to share it for those who suffer from it or can learn more about it. It's all about spreading awareness. Rankings: 1. #1 in selective mutism - Sept. 1, 2018 2. #2 in own voices - Sept. 1, 2018 3. #7 in anxietydisorders - Sept. 1, 2018 4. #51 in autobiography - Sept. 1, 2018

Selective mutism isn't something that's fake or made up. It's a real thing that not many people know about. I never knew until I was told I had it. This is going to have some experiences I have had, and maybe or poem or two. But just renember this, someone may look just shy, but it isn't always just shy. Selective mutism is a real anxiety disorder that needs to be understood.

When I was in middle school, I couldn't talk. I could talk at home, but not in school. When I was in high school, I could barely talk. I could talk at home, but I couldn't talk in school unless someone else talked to me first. I didn't know I had an anxiety disorder called Selective Mutism. So, this is my experience.

Selective Mutism is a difficult condition to explain. I have suffered from this fascinating yet terrible condition, and am writing this to show you a glimpse into my world, with the hope that you may better understand us. This book is mostly non-fiction, however all views given are my own and come ultimately from my own personal experience. Although I have attempted to keep this accurate, some facts may be outdated, or may not apply to others with the condition.

I was just the stereotypical little girl. The one who loved princesses and anything colorful. Only i was a bit - different. I had something called selective mutism, which less than 1% of people have. It makes it seem very difficult, or even impossible, for a person with the mental illness to talk to anyone but the few or possibly only one person(s) that they're comfortable around. Without early treatment this can follow into adulthood. Luckily, i overcame it.. but that was only the beginning.
