Now, usually I'm quite level headed. But right now? Right now my heart hammered frantically against my chest as he pressed closer. Those mischievous green eyes bore into mine and I couldn't breathe, couldn't move, not even to mention think clearly. His smell was intoxicating as he leaned in, closing the already too small distance between us. My eyes closed out of their own accord as his face inched closer, his breath dancing on my lips. Just a few more seconds.... His deep laughter echoed through the room, bringing me back to reality. "Now, now Leslie, here I thought you were the only girl unaffected by all my charm," he bellowed, wearing the most annoying smirk I have ever seen. What the hell? What had just happened? No no no no. Taking my shocked silence as cue, Mason leaned a bit closer, whispering huskily, "I told you I'd get back at you Carter, and trust me I'm just getting started." That asshole! Who does he think he is treating ME like I'm one of his little groupies?! Oh, he think he's won?? He was right, this was definitely NOT over. I'd teach him exactly why messing with Leslie Carter was a very, very bad idea. ********************* Meet Leslie Carter, a headstrong girl who doesn't let anyone walk over her. When the school player, Mason Hayes, makes a bet that he can get Leslie to fall for him, she is determined to prove him wrong. Maybe even teach him a lesson or two. Can Leslie resist all that is Mason Hayes? Can he break through the walls she's so meticulously put up? Maybe, maybe not... But it's sure going to be one hell of a ride to find out.

Dakota Peters is a simple girl. She is okay with surviving high school with her friends, her brother, and her pathetic crush on Caleb Fisher. She has been pining over Caleb since freshman year, but is totally okay with just admiring from afar because she knows that she's too awkward and weird to actually have a boyfriend. Dakota's life is pretty simple this way, pathetically stalking an improbable crush and that's how she's happy living her life until, of course, things get complicated. There's a new boy in town just as another one of her brother's friends confesses feelings for her just as Caleb begins to take notice to her. With all three things happening at once, it's overwhelming for Dakota because she isn't used to boys actually liking her back. She was content with stalking from afar with no real love interest, but now she has three and that's not okay with her. Not to mention her secret manhunt to find her mother, who abandoned her family when she and her brother were four. How can she get through the last half of senior year with all of this abnormal drama going on around her?

This is the original, unedited version of Light as a Feather, Book #1. This book was the inspiration for the Hulu Original Series. The revised version is now available in bookstores throughout the USA & Canada from Simon Pulse. McKenna Brady thinks her junior year of high school is going to be the best ever when she's welcomed into the elite group of popular girls at Weeping Willow High School led by blonde, gorgeous Olivia Richmond. Prior to junior year, McKenna was known in her small town as the girl whose twin sister died in a tragic house fire, and she's overjoyed at the prospect of redefining her identity. She has a date to the Homecoming dance with Olivia's handsome older brother, and a good chance of being elected to student council. For the first time since McKenna's parents divorced, things are looking up. But everything changes the night of Olivia's Sweet Sixteen sleepover birthday party. Violet, the shy, mysterious new girl in town, suggests that the girls play a scary game called Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board, during which Violet makes up elaborate stories about the future ways in which beautiful Olivia, brassy Candace, and athletic Mischa will die. The game unsettles McKenna because she's already escaped death once in her life, but she doesn't want to ruin her friends' fun. It's only a game, she reminds herself.

Fantasy|Romance|Mystery The first and last known person to ever “cheat” Death lived about 3000 years ago. The last actual person to have escaped Death? My brother. About five minutes ago. It wouldn't have been the first time, either. But oddly enough, that is not the reason I'm sharing this story. I'm sharing it because somebody other than Death found out about my brother's special “ability”. Death had given my brother and I one rule, and one rule alone: let no one know of my brother's ability to "soul-recycle". But somehow, that rule was broken. We don't know how, we don't know why, but it comes with a severe consequence – that either my brother, or the intruder must die. The thing is, Death has chosen me to decide who must leave the world behind. But it's an unbearable – impossible – choice. Because how am I to choose between my own brother...and my other half?
