A hundred and fifty years from now, parents will give up their children to the government at birth. This is due to mandatory DNA scanning that will determine every detail of the child: personality, talents, weaknesses, eye and hair color, and any disabilities. Parents then "shop" for the type of child they want. After they purchase their child, they raise that child as their own. The children that are not chosen by the age of three are deemed "the forgotten" and sentenced to a life of servitude to the government. This has been the way of the world for one hundred years. Fifteen year old Eris-6-11 is one of the Forgotten. Her life changes forever when she gets a chance to leave the Compound forever. Best Science Fiction rank: 75

Maryanna Bustlings never imagined her father would remarry again after divorcing her mother almost three years ago. She doesn't have a problem with his girlfriend, but calling her "mom"was a bit of a stretch. Her family owns Bustlings Holdings Inc. and pretty soon, Maryanna's dad would marry Ariana DeSusa, his girlfriend and assistant on the job. Welcoming a new family isn't going to be easy until she becomes attracted to Christian DeSusa, Ariana's eldest son. Everyone knows it's forbidden to be in a relationship with your own sibling. But then why can't Maryanna just obey that rule? Will she sacrifice everything to be with Christian or will she choose the smarter way and keep her distance? Sneak peek~~~~~~ Christian's emerald eyes flashed knowingly at my frown. "Why can't you see that we're meant to be together?" I fumed. "Don't you get it? We are siblings now! There's no way we can be together!"I sat close to the fire to warm up from the blizzard i had witnessed outside. Awkward silence ensued the room as Christian hovered behind me processing my words. "We aren't blood related, so I don't see the point." I sighed. Christian was the only person on my mind ever since my dad got married. He was the only one who made me feel... Like me. "You know this feeling that we both have; it only happens once in a lifetime. And in that lifetime, I'd like to spend it with the one person I love." Christian said after a deep silence.
