Zeke, a reporter with schizo-affective paranoia, gets caught up in a vamp-motivated murder. Zeke's best work is drafted during "medicinal vacations," where he uses his condition to aid his writing process, short term memory be damned. However, the latest "vacation" dubs him a P.O.I. in the murder investigation of Carter (his rival colleague), and he's unsure if his intimacy with her was hallucination or reality. His there-again, gone-again friend August isn't much help, either. Zeke wonders why police don't follow the vamp-attack angle, considering Carter's wounds. The politically-correct vamp culture has rendered him unsympathetic. As the evidence mounts against him, Zeke struggles to use his journalistic skills in an effort to save himself. He discovers everyone else's secrets, including those of his parents and cousin Raffi, somehow intertwine with the investigation. Slowly, Zeke becomes his own worst enemy. *2018 Wattys Short List* *2024 On the Wattpad Action reading list! *On the Wattpad Stars "Star-Powered Thrillers" list!* *On the AntiHeroes Galore "Method in Madness" list!*

Being second in command is a hard job. Looking amazing (but just a little less amazing than the Tiffany the current queen), swallowing your pride when belittled, and making fun of everyone beneath your standard group even when they are probably cool and you'd probably hang out with them if you weren't such a pansy about losing your 2nd place pedestal. But when I kill the Queen it's up to me how the court works. Right?
