Audrey Kepler wants to breathe, to run, to live. It should be a given, after all, a gift everyone receives at birth. The day she gets on the bus is the day she finally admits to herself that being alive and living are two separate things. And Audrey wants to live. When she meets Eli Davis, a mysterious, quiet, and timid boy, she assumes that they are opposites. But, they are more similar than she could have ever imagined. Eli wants to live, he thinks. He at least wants to taste what it's like before he decides. She was the sun; warm, bright, radiant, and full of the purest light. He was the stars; distant and scarce, yet fascinating and effervescent if you took the time to look closely enough. They seem so different at first glance, the sun and the stars, but they are just alike.

(slow to no updates currently) Shoot first. If you shoot first, the other guy can't shoot you. Look pretty. No one wants to believe the pretty one's got a gun. Don't get caught. This all doesn't matter, however, if all eyes are on you. And a missing king with a wanted foreigner criminal tend to attract lots of attention. This all started when there was a crown and no king to wear it. Whatever happened to the feeble boy who was supposed to take the throne, no one knew. Most assumed he finally died. The family taking over the royal tradition want to make sure that's the truth, one way or another. A bounty was placed on the supposed-to-be-king. Dead or alive, if someone can find him, then they get enough money to buy an island. Or, in Ramona's case, at least get off this one. She's hoping she finds a dead body, it'd save time and trouble. But he's not. All the time and trouble she wanted to save, she realizes all that's out the window. Because she won't let him die, either.

For Kerza Freiborne, the war began with fire and ended in ice. But Ally bombs and a march through frozen fields did not come first: the war had a precursor that brought it to her doorstep in the shape of hunched shoulders, dirt-smudged cheeks and a gold star sewn to the breast of a sweater. A fugitive Jew in the heart of Nazi Germany is not a thing that can be simply swept beneath a rug, and thusly, it is the attic of Kerza's family in which the traumatized, stammering boy must take shelter. With the battlefield drawing closer and a country's old prejudice reaching a boiling point, the line between us and them is blurred and the duplicity of human nature becomes clearer every day. But for better or worse, this Jew and German are the most important people in each others lives, and everything they thought they understood of their world will soon change forever.
