A poem that examines the ideas of sentimental and eternal love that can be found in literature, especially love poems. My poem works with the idea of eternal love and Time through the figures of Los Novios and the popular Ranchera/Mariachi song Cielito Lindo. Los Novios or The Lovers are a popular depiction in Dia de los Muertos art. Their indigenous origin comes from the Aztec myth of Ixtaccihuatl and Popocatépetl. I've added a video of this classic folk mariachi song sung by Lila Downs for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy!
