(Credit to @MysteriousCurl for the cover idea!) - Updated every other Saturday - They appeared when we least expected. The Passing of Moons had cast a shadow over everything in sight, and dark clouds fanned out like wings on the horizon, a terrifying winged beast seeking to devour the sun as it grew dim. When the darkness hit, and the clouds were illuminated with a dying red light, we swore there was a moment when the clouds seemed almost alive; eyes glowing like fiery coals. We knew it was them by then. There was a wail, somewhere in the crowd, and panic settled in. There were cries, screams of terror, but the flames surrounded us before we had the chance to run. The fire had appeared out of nowhere and we could see nothing other than the light of the flame, our fear was drowned out by the crackling and spitting as the flames pursued us. One by one, we fell, swallowed away by the growing blaze. Only the air was frigid, and the fire was cold - ice cold. Freezing burns covered our ears and legs and flanks, and the drowning cries were accompanied by a sickening shatter of something that definitely wasn't ice. Before we knew, we were dying. A painless, horrifying death, and we couldn't shake the thought that we had it all wrong. We weren't going to be rescued. There was no miracle, no shining hope within our midst. This was the end. Who could save us now? ---Reviews--- This is really well written! And so mysterious, I really want to know what happens next! You've been a natural born Brine this whole time. There's a possibility that our family ties into Herobrine's actually." Midnight didn't say anything at first she couldn't handle it; normally she could handle anything, but not this time. Midnight let out a small cry and covered her eyes, now she knew the truth and the truth had never hurt so bad. Marina went to attempt to try and comfort her devastated daughter, only to be pushed away. "No! Don't touch me!" She screamed. As Marina understandingly backed away. The entire group was horrified, their leader was supposed to be the girl with a tragic story. The girl who had once had been living the dream life, and then lost it all. The girl who has escaped the squids and had freed her fellow hybrids. The girl who started an army and defeated the squids, and won the war against them. The girl who had even won against Notch himself. The girl who was just like them, who understood their pain. For once though no one could ever understand the pain she was going through.
