Dan is lonely seeing as his parents are always too busy for him. Since birth, he’s had a life plan that he is to follow exactly, though he wants to create his own future. He meets a really quiet kid, Phil, who never talks to anyone and is known as “Freaky Phil” by everyone in school. Dan decides to give the boy a chance, though Phil isn’t exactly the easiest person to talk to… Warnings: anxiety, mute, first-time (awkward) smut (later on and only once), mention of suicide of minor character (no actual suicide), and bullying. Dan Howell was the typical spoiled, rich boy with butlers driving him to operas and maids making him nachos for breakfast. Phil Lester, however, was the opposite. Barely any money and deadbeat parents, he lives in a bad neighborhood in a gross apartment with cat hair covering the carpet and an odd roommate. And then Dan's parents decide he needs to love someone rather than himself, and when Phil shows up at his mansion steps, Dan's parents grow fond of him- so much that the two are exchanging rings and Phil is moving in with his new spouse. They tell Dan he should give it a few months, to be patient, and if he still doesn't like him then they'll sign the divorce papers and call it quits. Marriage isn't perfect, right? Well this one is the exact example. But they could always pretend.

Phil was always a girly boy. He loved playing with Barbies and wearing pink. Even though his mom assured him it was perfectly normal, he sensed something was different. One day, a boy appeared on the other side of Phil's fence, sitting by a tree and drawing in his notebook. Phil's mom told him this was their new neighbor, and Phil found him intriguing. Boys had always been a mystery to Phil, even though he was one himself. When Phil talked to the brunet boy, he became tongue-tied and blushed, yet he couldn't help but watch him through a small hole in the fence. In just a few days, they grew closer, developing trust and perhaps even liking each other. But they were just kids, with big expectations and a different outlook on reality. This is a story about coming out, teenage drama, and two boys who live on opposite sides of a big wooden fence. (teenage Phan)

But yet, Dan is determined to find out what Phil is hiding behind his arrogant mask.

It's my first fanfic, I'm sorry in advance. Basically a high school au where Dan and Phil are in different French classes, and the school has a limited budget, so they have to share textbooks with someone in another class. Surprise (you guessed it) Dan and Phil end up sharing, and Phil leaves himself little notes in the textbook, which Dan finds. You have to read to find out the rest, mofos.
