Amari is a 17 year old girl from South Africa. She is about be a foreign exchange student [hence the title] in Los Angeles and she's going to live with her sister Melo. She currently lives with her mom, Lisa [43] and her two brothers Ferai [20] and Kai [18]. Her sister Melo [25] moved out five years ago to be a musician. Lisa [mom] wasn't really with a fan of the idea but she supported Melo's dream anyway which is good because now, Melo is rich and famous. She now lives in California, Los Angeles. Her dad, Michael [47] has a very successful architectural firms all over Europe, so he's really wealthy with means Amari's family is really wealth. Lisa is a neurologist at a private institution. Michael [dad] didn't want Lisa to work because he can take care of her but Lisa always politely says to him: "honey, gender roles are out dated". Amari's has a best friend named Taylor [17] and she feels really bad for deciding to leave and she's really going to miss Tay [nick name] but moving to LA is something she wanted to do for a really long time and she's anxious but excited at the same time. That's about it for her home life. She's about to go on an adventure.
