FIRST THREE CHAPTERS Just breathe, Kacey. Ten tiny breaths. Seize them. Feel them. Love them. Four years ago Kacey Cleary’s life imploded when her car was hit by a drunk driver, killing her parents, boyfriend, and best friend. Still haunted by memories of being trapped inside, holding her boyfriend’s lifeless hand and listening to her mother take her last breath, Kacey wants to leave her past behind. Armed with two bus tickets, twenty-year-old Kacey and her fifteen-year-old sister, Livie, escape Grand Rapids, Michigan, to start over in Miami. Struggling to make ends meet, Kacey needs to figure out how to get by. But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle anything—anything but her mysterious neighbor in apartment 1D. Trent Emerson has smoldering blue eyes, deep dimples, and he perfectly skates that irresistible line between nice guy and bad boy. Hardened by her tragic past, Kacey is determined to keep everyone at a distance, but their mutual attraction is undeniable and Trent is determined to find a way into Kacey’s guarded heart—even if it means that an explosive secret could shatter both their worlds.

[This is only a sample. The entire book is published and available on Amazon as paperback, as well as most e-reading platforms.] Deep down, I knew it wasn’t Leo I was afraid of. He was pretty amazing, and it kind of made sense, in a weird way, that he would be special like that. So then what was I doing out here alone, in the middle of the night? I hadn’t completely come to terms with the shock of knowing Leo’s secret, but I was calm enough that I could think clearly again. Gathering my wits, I stood up and tried to remember the way back to Leo’s place. I picked up the pace after I saw two silhouettes running towards me. However, when they were close enough, I noticed that one was a lot shorter than the other, and I stopped. Leo and Carter didn’t have that much of a height difference. They were getting too close, now, so I turned my back on them and started running again. However, I was stopped seconds later by a figure blocking my way. Before I could say anything, a hand reached around and covered my mouth. Letting out a surprised moan, I struggled against it. At the same time, I smelled something so repulsive that it made me want to gag, but instead, I passed out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Copyright © 2014 YaraGharios All rights reserved. {Watty Awards 2013 Winner} This is simply a story about a lonely girl who finds love. I was inspired to write this because I wanted to know that there are good things that happen to invisible girls like me. I wanted to write Hope for those who seem hopeless. • • • In March of 2013, Letters was #1 in the short story category.
