Kellin takes immediate interest because he had never seen an adult that struggles with things the way that Vic does. Vic grows attached to Kellin, an attachment that surprises everyone considering they didn't think he could properly grasp the concept of feelings. Kellin grows attached to Vic, too, mainly due to Vic's mysterious personality.
