In the midst of the chaos, Lily discovers her mother has been taken hostage by the Daleks in their effort to draw the Doctor to them and kill him. She knows they are not aware of his lacking memory, so she attempts to locate her mother herself. When her attempts become futile and the Lord President himself orders her to leave her mother, she steals a TARDIS and runs away, seeking her father, much in his own fashion.
