Having just graduated, Penelope is ready to kick back and enjoy her last summer before college starts. However, a few things stand in her way. First, there's the fact that Xavier and Gray have both sent her vague emails that maybe, possibly, mean "want to go out with me." (And her answer, in both cases, is, "When did I trip and fall into a teen romance novel?") Second, her parents are becoming a bit suspicious about the amount of times she's sneaking off to go "paint Eliza's brother's toenails." In any case, this codeword wasn't bound to last long. Third, and most importantly, Sir Dastardly decided to make a grand entrance (although really, when you insist on wearing a top hat taller than your arm is long, any entrance is grand) and announce that the world is in peril once more and only Pen can save it. Though to be honest, at this point? It's pretty much wash, rinse and repeat. [Sequel to "How I Saved the World (Or So They Told Me)"] [COMPLETED]

In elfin society, mates are predetermined but not allowed to meet until they are 18. Against tradition, Keegan’s brother Thad told her Rourk’s name because his visions warned him she’d need Rourk’s protection, especially since Keegan will play a key role in the coming war between the dark and light elves. Rourk finds himself drawn to Keegan’s side every time she thinks his name. He wants to talk to her but remains in the shadows, silently guarding her every time she mentally beckons him. A twist of fate thrusts the two of them together when Rourk is forced to step up his protection and make his presence known. An ancient prophecy deeply entwines Keegan’s family in the future of their society. Depending on the outcome of the battle Keegan and Rourk may never have their life together.

What’s not to love about digging and mud? Corie: tall, thin, scruffy, female, student, blondish, smart, creative, outspoken, trouble-finding, precocious (whatever THAT means), eager, mature, silly, immature, messy-roomed, imaginative, animal-loving girl …… ……. has actual PERMISSION FROM HER FATHER to dig a hole in the front yard of her house. As an added bonus she can use the water hose, wheelbarrow, shovel, spray paint, a sign and any and all neighborhood friends she wants. After this whole, hole digging event, lots of oddness ensues not just from the aforementioned father, but from her mother, a dog walker, the police chief, the newspaper guy and the scowling town librarian. Does any good come of this at all? Well, sit down, grab a free cheese sandwich and find out. Oh! One other thing. If you ABSOLUTELY do not like reading, then read this book. It is a tad nutty, nonsensical and sometimes barely even seems like a book. If you are a parent who has a child that appears to be un-fond of reading, well, then, bribe them to try this by telling them it’s about popcorn, pudding, and Popsicles. And pickles.

Pen's uncle is a cop, and ever since she was able to crawl, she was being versed in the arts of stranger danger (and possibly a few karate, ninja-like moves). So when some unknown guy begins to chat her up through her car window, and then goes on to watch her as she drives away, she does what she's been taught: she goes to the cops. However, this turns out to be the least suspicious thing to occur in the following week. A new boy at Penelope's school invites her over to dinner, and suddenly she's being informed that she's involved in a prophecy (which was written on, excuse me, is that toilet paper?) to help stop an evil mastermind named Sir Dastardly and reclaim the prized Purity Crystal. Pen's reaction? (Well, after she goes a little crazy with her stun gun.) For reasons she still can't explain, to help him and his family take down Sir Dastardly and-so they tell her-to help save the world. Well, not all evil plots end the way we assume, right? [COMPLETED]
