From a very young age, Tyrien has heard voices in his head. So many voices, and there was never any way to stop them. His brother Iradas, though his minor, picked on him for having so many "imaginary friends." The thing that bothered Tyrien was that there were no faces to the voices. They were just... voices.
So when he got older, and the voices didn't go away, people began to worry. Tyrien did everything he could to shut out the voices, but nothing ever worked. After the untimely death of his father the king, he was pronounced by both the regents and Iradas as infirm, and unfit to rule. Iradas took over, and things have been going downhill since. Iradas banished him to the Outlands, where he would never be a threat or a nuisance again.
Things start making sense when Tyrien meets Ani, a young dragon who teaches him to be a good Shallyn Ryder. As he trains under the wings of his new friend and dragon, he finds that something is amiss in Shallyn, and he fears that Iradas is at the center of it.
And if he and Ani don't do something about it, everything they know will fall to pieces.

A/N: Overall, I would rate this a Teen book. If you don't prefer PG-13 movies, you wouldn't like this book. Consider yourself warned. ;) Thanks for reading!!
