After Rin dies, Kakashi is left feeling desperate, breaking his promise to Obito that he'd protect her. Kakashi doesn't talk to anyone about his pain... He just can't bring himself to. There were people who looked at Kakashi as if he was a monster for killing his teammate, he could sense everyone watching as he walked passed, despite everyone who stood away from Kakashi, there was always one who didn't, Might Gai. Kakashi was thankful for the friend, he knew he didn't deserve, so even then, he shielded himself from Gai, telling himself that it was better this way, even though it obviously wasn't. In the great ninja war, it is revealed that Madara is really Obito in disguise. Naruto is taken away by Itachi-san, to a hidden hideout, where he will be safe. Obito and Kakashi battle, and Obito just barely makes it out with his life.
