Derek Hale keeps to himself mostly. After the Hale fire killed most of his family, he withdrew from most social groups. He lived with his siblings, who had evaded the fire, the oldest two raising the younger four. But when Laura and Damon are out of town on alpha business, trouble stirs throwing Derek head first into a mess he can't seem to get out of. Along the way he meets an odd pair, one of which catches his eye, despite his best efforts. Will he escape the tragedy he's now mixed in or will he suffer well?

Taking a hesitant step foreward, I edge my way over, barely noticing my feet submerging in the freezing blanket of snow on the ground. "Excuse me....?" I whisper, not wanting to startle the hunched over figure. "Are you all right?" I'm met with silence, the only indication that they heard me is that they lifted their head a bit. Nervous, I end up initiating my first line of defense. Rambling. "I-I know this is weird, I mean what part of this isn't? But I figured that it's cold out and it's no weather to be out in. Not to mention I heard there's a snow storm that's suppose to hit the town tonight. So appropriate weather and clothing is really important..." Sighing, I shake my head and look up at the sky in utter defeat when I know I'm going no where. Taking a deep breath, I calm myself down. Turning to the figure, who by now is surely wondering what the hell is wrong with me, I give him a helpless smile. "I'm Stiles. What's your name?" I ask, crouching down next to them. From here I'm able to see his face from the dim street lamp. His strong jaw, stubble growing on his face, and the intense look in his eyes make me feel relieved that I'm crouching down, otherwise my week knees would give out. "Derek....Derek Hale." (NO TRANSLATIONS) When Stiles' mom gets sick, Stiles runs away. He gets lost in the preserve and runs into a wolf. It took three hours for the search team to find him, but when they do, the wolf is gone. As time passes, Stiles finds himself drawn to the wolf whenever he's in a bad place. But one day, the wolf stops showing up, and after a while Stiles rationalizes it as an imaginary friend to get him through the traumatic experience of losing his mother. But that all changes when Stiles and Scott sneaks out to find a dead body.

When Stiles starts having strange dreams that start to meld with his reality, he can't tell if he's losing his mind or not and he begins to pull away from the pack in order to keep it from them. Luckily Derek and Scott are too concerned with the newest threat in town to worry too much with Stiles, at first. But as Stiles gets worse he can only keep hiding the truth from those closest to him for so long.

Stiles is working on figuring out is Spark, or working on if he want to work on it. Either way, which ever he chooses, he will have to find his Anchor. All Sparks have an Anchor, all Anchors are shapeshifter. With all the supernatural beings in his life, he'll have to do a lot of thinking to figure out who it is.

All of his life, Stiles has had this...ability. Every time he looked at someone, he could sense how powerful they were on a scale of one to ten. Mostly, people were a five or six, and he'd only met a handful of people over that. The highest he had ever seen was an eight, so a ten was impossible, right? That's what he thought, until a dark, brooding guy walked through the doors of his high school... *This story is under light editing. The only problem is, he hardly knows the guy and doesn't trust him. Stiles keeps the mark a secret, hoping to prevent the inevitable. Meanwhile Derek is fighting a battle he can't hope to win and finds himself being drawn to the spastic human that reminds him too much of a past he'd rather forget.
