| Wattpad Featured | A nameless mutant child escapes certain death at Alkali Lake. Years later, she reunites with the man who helped her escape. Plagued by flashbacks of her past, she tries to erase the person she once was. As she adapts to her new life, she'll rebuild herself from the ground up in a world about to be changed forever. --- An X-Men & Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover. X-Men content from the films 'X-Men: The Movie' and 'X2: X-Men United' ONLY -- except Jean Grey survives the events of X2. The characters of Ace, Matt, and Vince are of my own creation, so DO NOT use them in any of your own works. #120/5.6K [02/02/19: #398/63K] in 'scifi' is an honor, wow! #38/1.6K [#60/2.5K] in 'superpowers' and #551/11.2K [#732/20.4K] in 'marvel' are also fantastic, I'm thrilled. "Black grays and blacker blacks define me. Color was never my style. But the red that pours from my heart and soul? The crimson that washes over me like a wave when a tide rolls in? That was different. It wasn't so much of a color as it was a symbol. And ironically, the only symbol that made me feel alive." It's no secret he was an addict. The guns, the cigarettes, and let us not forget about the alcohol. Drowning in the bottle, burning in the smoke, melting in the heat of the moment, it all seemed to be a part of his nightly ritual. They were his lethal habits. All because of his plagued thoughts. But these fixations, they lead to broken promises. And it's unsettling to know these promises can't even be mended considering such harsh goodbyes... It was the guns, and the alcohol, the cigarettes too. But Jason didn't even realize the most deadly addiction of them all; Temptation.

In which Valentine helps her brother ride out a nocturnal panic attack, confronts some guilt issues of her own, and they both take another baby step towards restoring the closeness they once had. Even if you've never read Ender's Game (by Orson Scott Card; BRILLIANT scifi book)...if you want lots of angst, platonic fluffy goodness and sibling cuddles, this short story is for you. =) A bit self-indulgent, but the idea of Val calming Ender with book references wouldn't go away. This takes place in the middle of "Ender In Exile", but reading that book in the series isn't necessary to get the gist of this. Hope you enjoy it!
