Seven year old Kenney has it all. Loving parents, a sister who adores him, an aunt who he follows around like she's queen of the world, and uncles that teach him how to thrive in the family business. But when tragedy strikes, Kenney's world is suddenly flipped upside down. His family dissolves, the neighborhood that he loves crumbles around him, and the family business that was once so exciting and new becomes a burden and a trap from which he thinks he'll never escape. Kenney finds himself quickly chained to his family and his hood, his childhood ending almost as soon as it began. By 11 he's not only the man of the house, but finds himself on the fast track to becoming a man in the streets. No one questions Kenney's family, Kenney's crew, or Kenney's new position as "The Prince." Set in North Houston, this story is gritty and disturbing, but it is also captivating and oddly motivating. We follow Kenney, who we first meet in Still Waters, through the obstacles and triumphs that turn him into the man that he eventually becomes. Kenney is a fighter in every sense of the word. Without even realizing it, he learns lessons and picks up skills that everyone could use in any journey to push through the sometimes murky waters of life, and still come out on top. Kenney is a survivor, and will have you crying with him when he cries and cheering for him to keep going when he wants to give up. Much like the real life young men globally that Kenney represents, he doesn't see himself making it to 18, and doesn't see the point in trying. We go into Vol 2 of the Still Waters Series knowing that the game won't break him, but we leave still amazed that he was able to get out of this nightmare alive. Coming Soon to Amazon! Jazz, a small town girl, has never been outside of her close-knit section of Baton Rouge, but deep down she knows that there's another world out there just waiting for her to stumble upon it. A world away from her abusive father, away from her inattentive mother, even away from The Organization that she loves so much. A world where the passion and excitement that she always dreamed of are an every day thing. Jazz just needs to...get away. Her chance finally comes one night when, in a panic, Jazz stabs her own father to protect her sister, then spends the next eleven months in jail. When she is finally released, Jazz finds that everything is different. Her sister now has a young daughter and is living with the man that Jazz was just beginning to fall for. Her mother and other siblings are no longer speaking to her, and blame Jazz for breaking the family apart. Her best friend, who helped "take care of" her father that fateful night, has been sent to a boy's home in another state, and now Jazz is all alone. This story follows Jazz on a wide-eyed journey out of her small world in search of a better life. Along the way she meets Rico, Houston's north side kingpin, and falls madly in love. Slowly, she works her way into his heart and gradually established herself as his Queen, hoping to forever reign beside her King. This is the third novel in the Still Waters Series, and it's interesting to see how quickly Jazz's journey to self discovery transforms into a path of self-destruction. Throughout The Still Waters Series, we follow Jazz's tale of heartbreak and redemption, lies and truths, and discover that Jazz, with all of her many addictions, is not very different from the rest of us. Jazz will have you yelling at the pages and praying that she finally finds what she's looking for at the same time. Come take a ride through her world to understand why still waters do often run deeper than the untrained eye can see. Coming Soon! Copyright @KalilahCoulter 2018

All my life I've heard nothing but bad about trappin'. Trappin' sent my daddy and granddaddy to jail. Trappin' killed my great great grandmother and my uncles. But my grandmomma always told me that without trappin' we wouldn't be where we are today; famous and successful. I guess one good thing did come out of the game. My family always told me about their experiences being in the game. Some of the stuff they've lived through I couldn't imagine surviving. I didn't want any part of that life. I would be the one to break family tradition. That was my mindset until I met Shakeim. He wasn't deep in the game but he was deep enough to get respect from many people around the city. He would sell drugs on the street corners and he had a reputation with many girls in L.A. He hung out with the drug dealers at school who were all apart of their neighborhood gang. He was one of the most feared people in Los Angeles because of who he associated with. He thought of me as a spoiled rich girl who he could potentially get a piece of ass from. I thought of him as a basic nigga who do about anything to make money. But despite all that we caught feelings for each other and that's when I started rethinking my idea about breaking family tradition.
