Charlotte Ocompo was a normal 21st century teenager from Queens, hopeful for a kickass summer ahead of her. There, she meets the infamous Jack Kelly who takes her under his wing and shows her how to survive in the 20th century under the alias of Kit the newsie. Kit has to forget everything she knows about her old life and learn from Jack the art of carrying the banner and soaking bums. Despite a rocky start with the Delancey brothers and the cold hearted Brooklyn newsies leader, Kit adjusts quickly to the harsh realities of the newsies lifestyle. She even catches the eye of a certain newsie (well she only ever sees his one eye) and a mysterious Brooklyn newsie who seems to have more secrets than she does. With the portal slowly appearing closer and closer to her with each passing day, Kit knows she can't stay in the past forever. But something is holding her back, and she's determined to figure out what it is. Can Kit keep up the facade without slipping up that she's from the future? Why was she sent to the past?
