Medusa was a priestess of Athena. She was a beautiful maiden who vowed to be celibate her entire life. Athena loved Medusa, until a horrid accident happened in Parthenon. Medusa and Poseidon were caught in the middle of sexual intercourse. The scene triggered a flame in Athena, who went livid and cursed Medusa. Formerly a pretty girl transformed into an ugly creature. Medusa was heartbroken. She kept saying that it was not her fault and Poseidon had tricked her. So, Athena made a promise. If Medusa finds someone who loves her and accepts her flaws, the curse would be lifted.
