In the mountain kingdom of the FireClaws, a young dragonling named Sundrop spends her days listening to her mother tell noble tales originating from the old ages. Thousands of years ago, all five kingdoms came together to defeat an army of sinister dragons who wanted the world for themselves. Sundrop and her older brother Flametooth are fascinated by these stories, reenacting the roles of the soldiers who fought so valiantly all those eons ago. Nothing seems out of the ordinary as Sundrop plays with her fellow dragonlings, but in the shadows, a mysterious force is growing stronger. Dragon eggs are going missing, and spotters are delivering messages of strange dark-winged reptiles circling the boundaries of their kingdoms. Just when things couldn't get any more frightening, the FireClaw's resident soothsayer delivers an ominous prophecy. "The whole world will perish beneath black blood. Our only hope is the five." Sundrop's world is about to change. Will the young FireClaw be able to embrace her future, or will she, like many other dragonlings, perish in the process? A war is brewing, and Sundrop may be one of the only dragons destined to stop it.
