Leah is a Radiant, a dying race that is able to crystallise Light. Plagued for centuries by a parasite able to turn them into mindless monsters known as Lightless, the Radiant's homeland has been long since lost. Leah's seen what the parasite has done to her people's morale, and she's determined to be the one who finds the cure. Only the League of Light still challenge the expansion of the Lightless, but new recruits are growing scarcer, their Radiant blood thinner as the League struggle to maintain numbers. When Leah arrives with her Radiant features and the full ability to manipulate Light, not all of them see her as a blessing. There's a divide between the pure Radiants and the humans who can claim their blood, and with shadows in the League, Leah's going to have to wade through it all if she wants to find her cure. Follow Alexa on a journey of discovery, learning about both herself and the black sheep of the family who used to own the house. It's one thing uncovering the disgusting hobbies her late uncle kept (a mixture of taxidermy, dissection, and ancient methods of torture), but when a series of mishaps leads to her inheriting something from the man she never could have dreamed up, it's up to her to make sense of the crazy situation.

Layla is a Pure Shifter, the last one of her kind. She can shift into any animal, and can self-heal her injuries. She lives in the woods of New Hampshire, where she is free from most evil. Her parents have died, and she carries on as a loner as she becomes an adult. Since the age of six, she has lived all alone; that is, until she finds her mate, David, from a nearby werewolf pack. After some struggles and unfriendliness, Layla begins to live life from a werewolves' point of view, and quickly becomes used to it.
