You’re about to read Hereafter. Possibly you’ve already read, Maitreya, and may have a sense that the storyline was not pure fiction. Much of the plot was inspired by made-up stories in pop culture, as in the Twilight characters, Bella and Edward, as well as Hunger Games’ Katniss and Peeta. Mixed into the fiction, however, were biblical facts as well as influences of a spiritual Truth I feel blessed to have had been brought to my attention. When Fallon arrives in heaven, few if any of her childhood imaginings were realized. It wasn’t the complete displacement and culture shock that she’d expected. First of all, her glorified body was similar to and certainly much better than the one she left behind on earth. Having a physical body, heaven was a destination with recognizable buildings and roads, places for people with bodies to go and ways to get there. Fallon soon learned that being in heaven was no vacation. She’d graduated from spiritual grammar school when leaving earth. Now it was time for spiritual boot camp before joining the Marines of the spiritual hierarchy in heaven.

Moby Dx: A Novel of Silicon Valley is the story of the life, times, trials and tribulations, loves, families, business partners, students, and college roommates of one-time MIT Professor and Moby Dx co-founder, Max Frood—as told by Princeton graduate Lakshmi Stein. Copyright 2014 by Melvillean Press, LLC Drink the Kool-Aid, or Don't Drink the Kool-Aid? That is the question of this novel. Full of intrigue, bad behavior, sex, and a vivid look at where we live, its characters discuss the workings of the venture business, trends in big data, biotechnology, and the history of modern biology. See www.mobydx.com for more information, reviews, an author interview, newsletter signup, etc. Moby Dx is a company. In the jargon of biotech, Dx is shorthand for diagnostics. Pronounce the title however you like, but I call it Moby D X. What's put up on Wattpad is Volume 1, Max Ebb. There will be six volumes. The Prologue to Volume 1 is an introduction to Silicon Valley, written as a takeoff on Melville's hilarious chapter on Nantucket. Then the reader is put in the able hands of narrator Lakshmi Stein who tells her origin story before jumping back in time to set up her introduction to Jay Orrix, Max Frood, and molecular biology. We follow Max from Cambridge, to Southeast Asia, to France, and to Cambridge. We know Silicon Valley is coming, but like everyone who lives there, they have to get there first. If you want to binge on Volume 1 rather than drink from the serialization on Wattpad, then go to Amazon where the book becomes available on Feb 10. There's a much needed glossary on in it, too. For a subscription to all six volumes, go to www.gum.co/mobydx.

In the most dangerous city in the country, one controlled by a sadistic gang called the Sons of Ares, Kyra Roberts is searching the deep places for someone… Kyra has come to Abstreuse city to find someone she’s lost, but walking the underbelly—a dark alley system residents call the Slip Mire—even in disguise, is rife with dangers. Kyra must stay on her toes if she intends to live. After crossing paths several times with the same detective, she wonders if his work and hers might be connected. Gabe Nichols has worked homicide in Abstreuse for three years. Dead prostitutes and gang violence are part of the night shift. When a woman who looks like a street junkie but acts like an intellectual saves his life, he’s intrigued. Another woman shows up at his crime scene, and Gabe’s instincts kick into high gear when she clams up. Two cases involving strange women who won’t tell what they know are too coincidental. If Gabe and Kyra can’t find a way to collaborate, they may not live to see the sunrise. Doomed, like so many others, to become gray, unmarked graves in a forgotten fracture of the Slip Mire.
