Richard Faulkner, Jr. and Madeline "Dei" Mendez have been best friends since college, with a hint of something more in between. Theirs is a romance that never quite made it, and decided the friendship was too precious, and dedication to their craft should be their first priority. Both budding writers, they survived college supporting each other through thick and thin, content with the no label closeness they shared. Until Richard gets his big break of getting his book chosen for a movie, with Dei's superstar sister Kathryn starring in it. All of a sudden, Richard is dazzled by Kathryn's incandescent beauty and grace, and Dei is the proverbial third wheel.
