Among the spared, magic chooses a rare few, connecting them to the moon or sea. These are the One-Hundreds, mermaids and humans with the power to save the world-or corrupt it. When Cressa-la breaks the first rule of her tribe and touches the water surrounding her island, everything she knows turns on its head. Talking, sinister dolphins, mind control, and a whole world just under the waves await her on her eigteenth birthday... but she never asked for any of this. All she wanted was to become a Tribe Leader and take care of her village. It's amazing how one screw-up can change everything. A relentless darkness reaches for her, wanting her affections for his own twisted purposes. In opposition stands a fractured light, haunted by a painful past where corruption eroded friendship. It's just a normal day at school until the power goes out. No one is worried at first until you learn that the hacker group Anonymous just shut down the U.S. power grid. Cars, cell phones, and electricity stop working. The police can't help you because they're taking care of their own family and how would they get to your school without cars and cell phones? People turn into cold blooded killers so that they can get ahead in this new world. Read on to find out just how far one girl will go to try and make it out alive.

Ellany was raised in a shielded place; fed lies since before she could walk. When beasts that should have only existed in her nightmares rip her from everything she holds dear, her will to continue is shattered. She tells herself she is prepared to die there on the forest floor. Yet, in her deepest state of darkness, she is saved by someone who deems her worthy of something she doesn't quite understand. Something so much bigger than her own misfortunes that she begins to fear it. Taken from the one person she trusts, she is forced to decipher friend from foe, and face her inner monster, alone. The darkness continues to advance and more are falling victim to their own demons. The line between humanity and beast is thinning. There is a war to wage against an overpowering evil. She must prevail or all is lost.

Marcie is an oddity in her village, the daughter of a widower with both village and outsider blood in her veins. She cares for her drunken father, and struggles to fit in with the rest of the village. Everything changes when she comes across two dragons, a mother and her new born, and unwittingly becomes the Tamer of the baby dragon when his mother dies. This new unlikely bond completely changes her life and opens doors to her future that she would have never thought possible whilst also causing her pain and heartache.
