All characters belong on Suzanne Collins. (Sorry for any inaccuracies, I lent my book to a friend, so I'm basing this off of memory.)

What if Peeta and Katniss never teamed up? What if Katniss finds trust in the most unlikely person? When Katniss volunteers for her sister, her only thought is to make it back to Prim. But what if another tribute catches her eye? Can she survive the Hunger Games? Can she figure out her mixed feelings for Cato? From the book: "So I want to know what you think about something. " I say slowly. He looks up curiously. " What is it Katniss? " he asks looking into my eyes. I feel immediately guilty for what I am about to say, especially since he saved my life by giving me bread. "So I have been thinking this over in my head and it seems that this is the only choice I have in order to make it home to Prim." I start. "Katniss?..." He says. He doesn't like what I am saying and I haven't even gotten to the worst part yet. "I know you want to make it back home to your family and I know that you are a part of my District, but I need to make it home to Prim!" I say, tears threatening to fall, I feel awful for what I am doing. Peeta looked extremely worried by this point. "What's wrong? What happened- " I cut him off " I'm... I'm... joining...the careers."

Silver Iris and Rye Mellark have been drafted in the Reaping - along with Axel Hawthorne, Retiarius Odair, Alura Abiteth, and twenty-one helpless others. Twisted Fan Fiction Being edited so things will be somewhat different I am aware of how similar I made this story to the original, I wrote this a few years ago when I was just starting out writing so bear with me. The second book stays away from the original story and it all makes sense at the end of the series. Katniss won the 73 Hunger Games. Everyone knows Katniss and Peeta's story, but when Elsa Everdeen middle child of Katniss and Prim is reaped in the 74th Hunger Games alongside Gale Hawthorne who is also Elsa's closest friend. What will happen when the games start and what will happen when love gets in the way?
