“Here you go, ma’am.” The waiter smiled, setting my plate down in front of me. I picked up my fork and dove into my pile of rice. I watched the steam coming from my egg rolls swirl in the air, as if it were dancing. I held my glass of water up to my lips and took a sip. Once my meal was done, I took my fortune cookie and unwrapped it. I wasn't a big fan of fortune cookies, I just liked reading the fortunes. Of course, they were all very similar, but sometimes you could find an interesting one. I slid the little slip of paper out of the cookie and unfolded it. My heart stopped the moment I read my fortune.
