Louise Alston was born a celebrity through no fault or desire of her own and, as she approaches her thirtieth birthday in 2170, she struggles more than ever to keep out of the tabloids. But the media are interested in everything she does. Especially now that she is the lead detective on one of the biggest criminal investigations the planet has seen. With both her career and her love life on the line, can the First Baby on Mars keep her private life private, her work and home life separate and, more critically, her past in the past?

Why can't teenagers just be teenagers? We are young, we want to live, we want to love and be loved, we want to do crazy shit, make mistakes, break our own hearts, risk our lives and lose our money. Why? Because that's how it's supposed to be... You can't take the teenager out of us, as much as you try, and if you force them to suppress it then you create a tragedy. I was one of them once, the sort of kids you all want your children to be, quiet, respectful, scared of breaking the law, few friends, I didn't drink smoke or take drugs, and did my homework like a nice little Angel. In short I was perfect, and I absolutely hated it, I had no reason to live. But then Sam came along, he was running away- from what? I didn't really care; I just knew that if I didn't go with him, I'd die inside. We loaded his car then drove away, it was as easy, and fricking scary as that. What did we do after that? Where did we go? Oh nothing much really, just a little holiday to Mexico...

"There was no denying it. Rein was alone, staring into the grey horizon of the world that made no sense. Again." Time is at a stand-still. The sun is set in its place in the western sky, never flinching. Everything else on the island remains frozen in time. Until Rein touches it. The problem is, he has no clue how he got there. He has no memory of things being any different than they are now - broken. The one thing he does know is, if things stay how they are, there is no way off of the island. Thousands of cycles have proven it true. The only thing he can do now is wait... wait and hope for something to change. Oh, how he wished that things would just change.... Until the day they did.
