It's horrible to don a mask. Most wear some kind of mask in their life--and for the most part, they're never of the best quality. All they cause is useless self-destruction and pain, but the good thing about them is that they can hide some ugly part of you that you don't want to show to the world. They're always a step down from what you think they'd be, always a notch lower than expectations, and always a lie to hide from the reality around us. ...of course, there are those that can see through those masks too, and it's supposed that Arceus created these humans to keep the world's sanity. That's all Avis wishes for, because it's nearly impossible to find any semblance of peace in this midst of war and chaos. To him, that's staying alone; staying out of others' business, and for the first seventeen years of his life, he's done that pretty well. § Avis can only hide in the shadow of his twin brother's strength, stranded in a country ravaged by war and destruction--and he tries to live his life in the darkness peacefully. He doesn't need to be noticed by everyone. The illusion of a functional, ideal life, however, is shattered when his family's balance is destroyed, and he thus dons his first mask. § For all his life, Avis had been taught that disaster was bad. For the most part, he's believed that much--he only needs to think of ungraceful piles of debris and blood-caked grounds to be convinced of that. At eighteen, he finds himself starting to doubt it--just a little. Security was hired to prevent curious reporters from intruding in her house, and her father's gym, and only a select few ever heard of May for years. The cause of such night terrors was diagnosed as stress, as May had developed the title of Princess of Petalburg which quickly evolved into the Princess of Hoenn, and such a daunting title would stress anyone out. It made sense to May and her family, so May continued to lay low for years - but the terrors stayed. One day, May begins to receive letters of encouragement from a mysterious and anonymous sender. Touched by such words, instead of the normal terrors she has at night, she begins to dream of the road, and her original goals of Top Coordinator has her younger self had always desperately wanted. Soon enough, past memories flood her with a renewed determination and a melody of hope. With encouragement from her mother, May decides to travel to Sinnoh and restart her journey, a fresh start. However, May's new journey begins looking all too familiar with so many faces around from her past: old friends, enemies, and even the one dweeb who really seemed to like giving Beautifly roses... not realizing that what laid ahead of her was an even bigger and darker fate than one could ever expect. -- It's about never giving up, So hold your head up, And we will carry on...

[fan cover made by @Serena-Daniels! thanks so much!] Leaf Green, a spunky and ambitious girl, took up the challenge to complete the Pokédex, travel through the region, earn badges, and better yet -- become a legend. The trainer was ever so daring to accept a dangerous, vein-exploding task but instead of being as craven from her still dependent stage of age, her adolescent self shrunk and she roused to be more self-reliant. The girl's journey was quite decent in a way, romance and drama come in her way. Though in spite of all, she was able to focus into her quest. Oddly enough, Leaf was spontaneously receiving voices or visions in her head with no prior knowledge of what or who was sending these impulses. "Become a legend to rescue who's fallen."
