Hello! I am Eloise, also known as "narrator". I am here to tell you a story, but nether the less YOU are actually reading it to yourself! Isn't that peculiar? Anyway- have you ever heard of waterlilies? No, not the flowers- the creature! Waterlilies live deep down in the ocean in cities just like ours. They don't look like mermaids- not even close. They look like us, with a few modifications. Their ears are different, their eyes are bigger, their hair never comes in natural colorurs and their skin is always a pastel shade of a harsh colour. This is a story of three close friends, waterlily friends, who are growing up together.

Lilly Martin is not model-material, but Adam Hiller is, and it turns out he likes to wear dresses when nobody's looking, and is in fact not a 'he' at all. When their school announces a fashion designing competition, Lilly decides to kill two (or three) birds with one stone and: 1) Win the fashion competition by making the best dress Edgley High has ever seen. 2) Help Adam (who prefers Eve, thank you very much) come out as the girl she is. 3) Annoy the bigots. " my name's blurry face and I care what you think. " Dan Howell has an unknown condition where he cannot see faces - no matter what he wears or does - they are always a blur. The doctors nicknamed it 'blurry face', and there's absolutely nothing they can do about it; Dan will have to live without faces. That is, until he meets Phil Lester - the 'bad boy' of Dan's new school - who's face is strangely visible to Dan; much to Dan's wonder and Phil's distaste.
