Natalie Muñoz has been preparing for the day of her choosing ceremony for an entire year. She's beautiful, intelligent, strong-willed, and highly mature and independent for her age. Ormai davo per scontato che le disgrazie fossero finite, invece una figura esile si lancia dall'ultimo vagone del treno e fende l'aria come un proiettile. A causa della luce del sole che mi arriva dritta in faccia, in un primo momento metto a fuoco soltanto una macchia indistinta, blu e nera. Nella frazione di secondo che segue, sono costretto a spingere l'autocontrollo al massimo della potenza per non mostrare nessuna emozione, per mantenere la mia posa autorevole e l'espressione gelida.
