An account of the last days of the ElvenQueen. Lairiel of Lorien was a Telerian elleth, and guardian of the Valar's creation. A chance encounter, on a political exchange to Greenwood, has her fate entwined with that of the Great Forest - she chose Oropher's son. She is Thranduil's most beloved treasure, and the light of the people she so readily embraced. But, as Greenwood falls into darkness even the King and his Queen are not immune to the evil of Sauron. ***Note: I wrote this story ten years ago, and I'm keeping it very much to its original form and plot. Therefore this is not a Gundabad story, nor a dragon fire plot. It is not influenced by the hobbit movies. Asachiel is a young elf who has exiled herself from her old life in Greenwood. Now a dark mystery threatens the village of men she has been living in. Her only option is to return to the elfen realm and beg the handsome yet cold and strong-willed king Thranduil to rescue the villagers and assist her in finding out what is going on. However, they have a shared past, and things don't go quite as planned.

Ellarian is a young elf from the palace of Greenwood. She works hard as a soldier in King Oropher's army. The only one that knows she is a female in the army is the king. But one day in battle, her helmet is kicked off her head in front of Prince Thranduil. She also saves his life. Thranduil falls in love with this stubborn and reckless female solider. His father doesn't permit them to marry. But one day, fate decides to change that. Oropher is killed in battle and Thranduil is made king of Greenwood. Ellarian becomes his queen. She knows fate changes in the blink of an eye. She knows what it is like to face death. But is she ready to die for the thing she loves the most?

"You see, yes I loved your mother, but she wasn't my choice, she was my parents choice not mine. I married her right after your grandfather died, because it was his soul dying wish. Of course, I fell in love with her over time, and then when I lost her I was heart broken, but it's not the kind of feeling I feel now. I was angry and resentful because she died and I had no one. A few days later I went to see The Hobbit BOTFA on its opening night. It was during a car trip from a family Christmas party when I came up with idea for this story. And while it doesn't follow the Jane Austen classic completely (Thranduil is no Mr. Knightley!), it was certainly inspired by it. I enjoyed the challenge.
