When Castiel’s plans for the summer get cancelled and he’s left with nowhere else to go, Dean invites him to go home with him. It seems an easy solution to cure Castiel’s summer blues, but when they arrive at the Winchester household, Dean realizes due to a slight miscommunication with his mom he and Castiel will have to spend the summer sharing a bed and holding hands because the entire Winchester family thinks they’re dating. And really it shouldn't be that big of a deal because Dean Winchester isn't actually in love with his best friend; except for that he is.

A drunkin' Castiel comes to Dean one night and while the two boys are alone things take a surprising turn forcing the boys to come to terms with their feels for each other.

"There's not much you can do when you're free-falling through time and space except to scream and hope someone will hear you. You may also get the feeling that you're riding a roller coaster in zero gravity. I closed my eyes to shield them from the blazing light, but only managed to further my headache. Time travel should come with a warning label." Natalie Brice and Aidan Ceevs never imagined they'd see a living dinosaur, and certainly never wanted to visit Ancient Rome on a hot and humid summer day. But after a mysterious figure sends the duo into an illegal, untested and possibly radioactive time machine, they embark unwilling on an adventure through time with only one goal in mind - getting back to the present, especially before time runs out. NOTE: THE TIME TRAVELING DOES NOT START UNTIL THE END OF CHAPTER TWO.

Despite Zeke’s threats, Dean doesn't tell Cas to leave the bunker. He revels in their burgeoning relationship, content to end his day with Cas asleep on his shoulder, even if they'll always sleep in separate rooms. Cas is it for him. But when Cas begins to experience physical urges he can't control, he asks Dean for a hand—metaphorically, and later, literally. Canon divergent after 9.03 "I'm No Angel."
