I had just finished my last show of the Neon Lights Tour in Indianapolis, Indiana. I told my bodyguard, Max, to go ahead and wrap up while I took a walk around. I had just performed for two hours and I was all hot and sweaty. All I took with me was a cold water bottle, my phone, and some earbuds as I started walking. It was late at night, around ten-thirty. I had walked maybe two blocks before I heard a slight whimpering. I slowly walked towards the sound, cautious as to not get hurt. As I got closer the sound got louder, now a full on crying. As I rounded a corner I saw a little girl, no more than two or three years old, huddled in a ball on the ground and crying. I gasped and rushed over to the crying girl. After Demi's last tour, she wanted to try teaching. She went to college, got her degree, and she is now teaching her first year of second grade. Most of the kids are great, but one is extra special. Seven year old Avery is just trying to survive the days. After having to do everything just right around her Mom, she goes to school to hide her secrets, only to go back to her abusive home.
